Animal Guides
Each month I draw an animal totem from the deck of 52 cards that come with Medicine Cards. I ask the universe and the Great Spirit to assist me in my journey to build the life of my dreams and to send me the animal from which I can learn a needed lesson or can draw inspiration. There are also animals that visit me in my dreams or that I have a natural affinity toward and at times I will seek out more information on these animals and their energies to discover new guidance and insight as the flow of life continues.
Once I have chosen my monthly animal totem, I mark the page in the book and read about the animal every couple of days and ask to be supported and taught with an open heart and mind. When I have a particular concern or a pressing issue - I will choose a medicine card spread from the front of the Medicine Cards book and look to gain more targeted instruction and insight. Medicine Card SpreadsThere are several medicine card spreads listed and briefly summarized at the beginning of the Medicine Cards book. Using the 52 animal totem cards that come with the book one can choose a spread and go through the process using the described configuration to both learn from and be guided by the animals regarding a particular question or issue with which one is struggling.
"The cards that come with the Medicine Cards system are numbered, and each card depicts on its face an animal inside a medicine shield. If the card is reversed, its number and animal will be upside down. Two lessons are therefore presented with each card: one for the right-side-up position and one for the reversed, or contrary, position." I enjoy these learning sessions and I am comforted by these animal energies and their ability to lead me to greater knowledge and solutions. |
