ABOVE: Lamps and reflections in an Istanbul store window. Reflections of our common humanity, glowing in the warm, multicolored lights of diversity. | Over the last year, the universe has been showing me the importance of connecting with others. I've started this blog with the desire to connect with others and share experiences and find new ways to access our common humanity and bring more peace to the world. Today is the first day of the Chinese New Year - the year of the Rooster. My hope is that the Rooster will awaken a new level of consciousness in our world and bring prosperity to all. Everybody Wake Up . . . it is a new day and the life of your dreams awaits. I hope you will join me by reading and commenting on this blog as I share different aspects of my life and excerpts from my book that will guide us on a magical, mythical journey from heartbreak and despair to the shores of celebration and joy. I start my book, To Kill A Coyote, with the following questions: |
What does it mean to be human?
What does it mean to follow one’s dreams?
What does it take to be happy?
At the beginning of my journey I longed to find our common humanity, to find a truth that would provide comfort at a time when I was so scared that I didn't matter, that I was a failure, and that my life was worthless without the love I had built my world around for over 12 years. After many, many tears and a lot of soul searching, I found that at my core there was love. If I was able to move past the fear, hurt, and anger, the love I thought I had lost remained - unbounded and pure.
Finding our common humanity can be extremely difficult in our modern world. There are decisions that we make and that others make that hurt us, bring dismay, and attempt to create separation through judgement and fear. The only answer I have found is love and that love needed to start with me.
Please share your thoughts on the questions of being human, finding our common humanity, following the life of your dreams, and being happy. I plan to blog weekly on topics that stem from these questions and that respond to your posts.
Namaste.
