"Crow is the keeper of sacred law. Crow can bend the laws of physical universe and "shape shift" . . . walk with crow and "shape shift that old reality and become your future self. Allow the bending of physical laws to aid in creating the shape shifted world of peace." (Medicine Cards, p133, 135) | What is universal law? Who decides truth? Are you waiting for someone else to spoon feed you your salvation or are you building your awareness and learning to discern your own truth? Crow medicine teaches us that "Divine Law is harmony that comes from a peaceful mind, an open heart, a true tongue, a light step, a forgiving nature, and a love of all living creatures. Honor the past as your teacher, honor the present as your creation, and honor the future as your inspiration." (Medicine Cards, p135) And how do we piece this all together to get to a place where we are liberated "from ignorance and circumstance." |
Good question. I am at peace for the most part, or maybe I am finally at peace with not being at peace with so many things in this world, in my life. I am working to build my awareness and free myself from ignorance and circumstance, from karma, perhaps. It is not easy, fate is strong, our primal urges and the desire to procreate and perpetuate our genus are overwhelming, even to the initiated. Becoming more aware has not necessarily given me more control over my feelings and thoughts, being more aware means I understand how little control I have in many situations, how unreasonable primal urges can make me. I have learned I can sit with these feelings, these thoughts, these urges and I can outlive them. This too shall pass . . .
We often see laws as confining, restrictions on our freedom. Many think of freedom as the ability to do whatever we want, follow any whim, indulge any urge. True freedom, however, is being free from the need, the compulsion, the desire to follow any whim, indulge any urge - it is a state in which our desires and our fears do not control us. We have come to place where we can sit with our greatest fears, we can sit with our greatest desires and remain calm.
There was a time when my strong emotions made me long for death - anything to stop the pain. I still have strong desires, strong emotions, doubts and fears, but I see them as transient and often fantastical - created by memories, by trauma, by what has been, by what will never be. Walking with Crow allows us to see "that the physical world and even the spiritual world, as humanity interprets them, are an illusion." As we build our awareness, our perspective begins to change, we begin to see more and more how we create our own world, how we create our life. We begin to grasp that we have the power within to change the sharpest arrow into a rose if we choose love, if we pursue truth relentlessly.
We have a choice - we can choose ignorance, we can remain confined by circumstance. If we remain unwilling to be instructed, if we choose unconsciousness - we will be controlled by commitments others have written and we will never understand the profound impact that we can have on others and in the world.
Namaste.
